Profile Pictures I & II  Icarus

These three works reflect on the act of staging the self in a networked world increasingly mediated by visual interaction and virtual profiles.

Profile Pictures I is an installation of glass cyanotypes of 11x16". The Cyanotype process was the first ever photographic process. This work explores portraiture as a means to build up an identity over the time.

Icarus is a 3 minute long video that documents the destruction of some pieces from the series Profile Pictures I.  Named after the greek myth of Icarus this work explores the dilution of the self through portraiture.

Profile Pictures II is an installation of wet collodion glass negatives that project an enlarged and distorted image onto the gallery space. The installation uses the natural light of the gallery space, making the projected images ephemeral and repetitive as the sun rises and sets.
